So here it is the finished version! I very deliberately haven't used Magic Bullet Quick Looks (MBQL) on every shot, partly because some of those shots were spot on perfect! Others have had different specific post effects added. Where it is used I think it does it's job of making a shot pop perfectly. In terms of control MBQL gives you more than 100 presets with a percentage value and adjustable windowing (power window!) allowing you to isolate parts of the frame you want to affect. Go Full Fat Magic Bullet for total control. MBQL doesn't get all the credit, some shots were given a pre-tweak in FCP, sometimes to flatten the contrast, some to add a colour for MBQL to work against. The singles on the girl and the shot of Non-Nah Wiser against the tree I use windows to Isolate them from a general Defocus. Which makes the frame more specific (had to manually track Non-Nah Wiser as he's in full motion, luckily it was the only time I used the shot AND it's a short one. The last bit of post work was to apply a 2.35.1 matte. The video had been shot with this in mind. (and because of the HDR FX7's stupidly generous overscan I'm glad I did.) Again it wasn't a matter of just slapping the matte filter on and rendering out. This was done shot by shot so that I could individually rack (adjust where each frame appeared in the matte) each frame. Now i'm happy.
